TANGERINE TULIPS

Oh hi. I guess I’m posting every single day now!

This was the first year I’ve planted tulips in our yard. I have been obsessed with tulips forever, and drive around looking at everyone else’s every year, but for some reason, I’ve never remembered during planting season.

Until 2020!

I chose apricot colors rather than straight up orange, and I love the mix. I believe the two colors I have are Stunning Apricot and Apricot Emperor. Vickie Lea Designs helped me get that figured out, and planted them.

One of the varieties bloomed earlier than the other and it’s been fun watching them progress and change.

Here they are with just the darker color which bloomed first.

And here they are on a bright sunny day. I think my husband thought they’d be dead before the lighter colored tulips started blooming!

Turns out tulips are pretty resilient. We had some hot days, and then at least a week of freezing temps, even snow flurries, and they just do their thing and continue to look beautiful!

Here they are with the lighter color tulips mixed in and blooming.

I took the below photo just a short time after the above photo. It is amazing how much they change depending on how bright the sun is. A cloud rolled over in the photo below, but the sun had been out for a couple hours, so the tulips opened up.

My husband just walked by and told me I was obsessed with tulips. I asked if he cared to elaborate, and he said I posted tulips practically everyday at the condo.

I looked back at my stories, and. . . guilty as charged!

I cut a few from my yard and brought them in, and these are the largest tulips I’ve ever seen in my life. They are like baseballs on top of stems! It’s hard to tell in the yard photos, but check these out!

Cricket cages are my new favorite vases. They have been a big hit! There are still a few available in the shop, and I have more coming. Click here to shop!

I actually measured and the blooms are four inches!

Anyway, Spring is the best, isn’t it? Love seeing the green back in the yard, and looking forward to planting!

I’m heading back to Florida next week for wallpaper installation, so I will be reporting on that. You can check my instagram stories if interested!

Also still working on Kips Bay Decorator Show House post from Palm Beach.
