KIPS BAY DECORATOR SHOW HOUSE PALM BEACH
When we planned this little birthday trip celebrating my daughter, Hillary, it began with the Van Gogh exhibit in Miami. To add to the weekend, we decided to visit Palm Beach for a day. What a wonderful coincidence that the Kips Bay Show House opened right about that time. Had I remembered the Show House, I honestly would have planned an entire trip around it!
I was so nervous about parking and such, but it was not crowded at all, probably thanks to timed entrances.
After visiting Casa Gusto the day before, (previous post in case you missed it) I immediately recognized several elements at the front entry from that design house. Loved this bench fabric - also seen in the upstairs hallway on charming panels.
I’m kind of jumping ahead to the upstairs hallway, but I feel like this large entry does by Casa Gusto has a definite vibe and belongs together.
This little vestibule was also done by Casa Gusto and it was soo charming! I adore this wallpaper.
It has become apparent, as I’m working on this post, that my photos reflect pretty obviously the rooms I loved the most. I did document some rooms that may not have been my favorites, but I think I completely left out a couple rooms. Sorry about that!
This room is to the right from the entry. I loved this painting over the fireplace with the blue walls.
Loved the matchstrikers! If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m obsessed with them. If you are in the market for one, you can shop my collection here.
Next, I snuck through the dining room to the patio.
The patio is fantastic!
The screen is so charming, and I love the planters. The paint color is perfect.
Also LOVE the checkered pattern underfoot. I would have chosen a simple stone console table for this space. The leaves against leaves are too busy and get lost.
The photo above shows just outside the dining room and then to the left is this charming area below, just outside the kitchen. I love the planters on the screen! Would not have chosen those chairs. . .
Looking back, here’s a better photo showing the four planters. I just love them.
After the super-charm and lush patio scene, the kitchen was a stark contrast. You can see the dining room peeking through on the other side. I like how the patio is across the back of the kitchen and dining room.
This hallway to a bedroom was so whimsical and fun. As if the wall mural wasn’t enough, the border with tassels adds another dimension. Also love the orange tile floor. There is a small built-in bar to the right.
A very organized closet. The dark ceiling was interesting, and the light fixture got a lot of attention.
The views from this bedroom are wow.
Cool tub in this bathroom!
On our way out of that bedroom, you can see a little of the built in bar.
I’ve always fantasized about having a dog shower/bath and the laundry room featured this gorgeous one!
This bedroom was Hillary’s favorite. Such a Jonathan Adler vibe going on and the light fixture was really fun.
You can see the Casa Gusto wall in the mirror at the end of this hallway. There is a darling little room to the right with the most wonderful wallpaper and fabric and a delicious apricot paint color.
I adore modern art, especially with antiques, but would have chosen something different for this room.
That little room leads into this bedroom which has a picturesque little balcony with an ocean view.
Here is the most charming balcony! There are several outdoor spaces at this house, but this was a favorite. That view! It couldn’t be prettier, but the practical part of me (it’s a very small part) is yearning for a chaise or something where I can lounge and read a book. I could sit out here for hours.
Through the doors of the apricot room is another balcony!
Are you ready for this?
I mean, how fun, right? The sisal flooring? The pink tile? The pink table? All of it! It was so tropical and felt like pure vacation, but all I could think about was keeping it clean during a storm.
Such a fun space!
I feel like this bedroom and bathroom from Bitty Bromley Interiors was a favorite among designers. I’ve seen a million instagram posts of this mirrored bathroom. It is definitely worth all the hype.
Soo pretty!
The last bedroom and bathroom really showcase a designer taking advantage of an opportunity to show his or her creativity.
This little bedroom from Celerie Kemble was like a fantasy.
A very Alice in Wonderland vibe!
This dramatic bathroom was quite the show stopper. The shower had wallpaper with glass over it!
Not my style, but fun to see.
I will try to remember this event every year now that I’ve experienced how easy it is to zip over to Palm Beach!
Of course, the best part was spending time with my daughter! We had such a great weekend!
That’s it for my posts from the weekend!
