louisville love

This was a weekend I could have never imagined or expected due in large part to our extraordinary hosts. Forget free breakfast at La Quinta! We had the pleasure of spending Friday morning at the lovely Louisville home of a celebrated author for a delightful brunch. And so the tale begins of my love for Louisville, Kentucky.

The backyard was quite stunning...

One of the most beautiful settings I had ever seen. I felt like a character in a movie... and immediately I adored Louisville. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating, but the very best part? The stories. Both Louisville natives, they had stories to tell. Perhaps it's the "southern" in the city or the incredible wealth associated with the families that fuel such stories, but oh my there were stories. And we loved hearing every detail. You can't make this stuff up, I promise you that.

This charming Friday morning brunch, our first encounter with Louisville, as you have probably assessed, beats the hell out of free breakfast at La Quinta.

Moving on to Kentucky Oaks...

Our hosts did not mention that their box is arguably home to the best seats in the house. Just above the finish line, with the starting gates down to the left, it was a thrilling once in a lifetime experience to say the least.

The Paddock is a popular spot where visitors see the horses up close in their stalls... The horses are also paraded around with the jockeys for a last look before their races.

More Louisville coming up...
