SHOP UPDATES
The original impetus for opening this shop was to provide my blog readers access to French pottery like aptware. I became obsessed with aptware after starting my own collection years ago, and thought it would be a fun extension of the blog. The thought of traveling to different areas of France, finding special artisans, and sharing their crafts with my readers sounded like a dream come true!
Over the past six years, the original idea of offering aptware in a small shop expanded to include many French ceramicists and potters, plus many other home decor items. I am still obsessed with aptware as much as I was when I first fell in love with it, and in fact, my appreciation has grown stronger as I have learned more and discovered more artists. PS I have 4 boxes of aptware arriving this week!! I’ll be posting pics on instagram - Follow along here.
All this to say, after five years of expanding my shop into multiple categories and selling hundreds of different products from quite a few vendors across the globe, I have decided to “downsize” my inventory, and scale back my vendors to get back to what I’m most passionate about. Additionally, after being in business for over five years, I have a good understanding of what my customers are most interested in.
The French pottery will still be front and center, and the most important part of the shop.
Arriving from the United Kingdom, a few times a year, are small collections of my most favorite accessory, matchstrikes. They will continue to be offered in the shop as I consider them the most perfect addition to any decor. They make any space feel more special.
There is a size and color for every space. They are definitely priced as an investment piece, but they are, after all, handblown crystal made in England by a team of highly skilled artisans who are individually recognized in their field.
Each batch offers something a little different, and I’m always surprised by a new color or technique. Absolutely love this company and am thrilled to offer these masterpieces!
Bees and trees. Trees and bees. I’m always shipping bees and trees. Of course, the museum bees from Trace Mayer have been flying out of this shop for years, and continue to be my most popular item. I’m sure I’ve sold thousands of bees.
The Czech trees have also been a huge hit - selling year round and about as quickly as the shipments arrive from the Czech Republic!
I’ll still offer a few additional home and garden accents in the shop, but have really felt a weight has been lifted by scaling down as far as the products and vendors I carry.
I thank you all for your continued support through the years! The French Tangerine started out as a little hobby and has grown into a small business I continue to immensely enjoy!
PS If you are interested in ordering the placemats or coasters (or anything else) previously featured in the shop, please feel free to reach out. I am happy to do special orders whenever possible!
