HILLARY'S HOUSE in mt
Just spent a wonderful week in Whitefish, Montana with my daughter, Hillary! It was cold, but so beautiful. I have gotten pretty familiar with the small ski town, and I felt right at home visiting my favorite shops, and even running into friends from Omaha! The fall colors were really spectacular. . .
We took a couple brisk walks, and even though it was cold, as long as the sun was out, we were happy. I love this house in Hillary’s neighborhood. For Easter, they had bunnies in their front yard!
We love to visit The Bungalow, a darling florist/shop down the street.
I always take a few photos ~ there are vignettes everywhere you look!
After going outside my decorating comfort zone at our condo in Florida, with pastel fabrics and white furniture, we really switched it up with mountain decor in Whitefish! Here’s a photo of Hillary’s house from this summer…
She has become quite the happy homemaker, and decorated for Halloween on October 1st.
I visited this summer, after Hillary first moved in, and we pulled the living room together pretty easily…
The kitchen was recently renovated, and it’s darling!
There’s only one bathroom in the house, but it’s nice and big. The metal cabinets are from Restoration Hardware.
Found that fish rug this week while shopping :)
Hillary ended up selling most of her Jonathan Adler and MacKenzie-Childs accessories. She still has a few things around, but our decor direction changed from tiny-apartment-in-Chicago to small-house-in-Montana. Most of the old decor is in the guest bedroom downstairs. . .
The upstairs is a loft with a large walk-in closet. There’s a seating area at the top of the stairs, a space for their bed, a large space with shelving for handbags, etc. And a great chandelier she found, hanging right over the staircase, that kind of makes the room.
You guys, Hillary spent months researching dogs - the cutest, the smartest, the one’s that don’t shed, etc. But she unexpectedly ended up with a rescue dog named Oscar, an overweight dachshund, and he is the sweetest thing!
He burrows in blankets, and when we walk in the front door, he pops his head out to see who’s there.
We snuck him into the hotel for a sleepover, but he was not interested, and Hillary had to take him home.
He has slimmed down after a strict diet and lots of walks :)
Ok, that’s all for now. I have more to show you from my week in Whitefish. It is truly a little slice of heaven!
More Montana coming up!
