So excited for the 2018 Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show!

I truly believe the homes of Omaha, Nebraska get prettier each September thanks to the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show. Even when I promise myself I don't need one more thing, there always seems to be something I can add to a room to make it a little better. And sometimes, a lot better! There is always inspiration to be found during the weekend of the Show.

New dealers are welcomed each year, joining a collection of favorite dealers from years past. The speakers are always a highlight, and in recent years, educational talks have been added to the weekend. The Antique and Design Academy talks this year include Cynthia Nouri from Sasha Nicholas and Rebecca Vizard, aka B.Viz, of Once Upon a Pillow.

Our Luncheon Speakers are Miles Redd on Friday, Steven Stolman on Saturday, and Matt Stamp on Sunday.

Miles Redd opened his own design firm in 1988 after working with Bunny Williams and John Rosselli, which had to be about as inspiring as it gets. Although Redd studied at some of New York's best design schools, they further exposed him to the arts of antiques dealership, shopping, and timeless decorating.

Now, of course, he is a regular in top shelf publications, and I'm so excited to hear him in person! He inspired a post I did on my love of lacquer a few years ago. (here)

Steven Stolman first came into my life years ago when I shopped in one of his eponymous shops in Florida. I bought darling skirts and pants made from favorite designer fabrics. I was obsessed. Apparently, so were a lot of other fans. His unique designs cut from decorative fabrics have been described as a cult favorite among the smart set.

Stolman also served as President of Scalamandre, the renowned textiles house. He spearheaded an extraordinary brand expansion strategy that included distinctive collections of china and crystal, deluxe bedding, lighting, upholstered furniture, decorative accessories and paper goods that continue to sell worldwide.

Several books penned by Mr. Stolmam...

Matt worked as a sommelier in some of the top restaurants in wine country, including French Laundry and the Farmhouse Inn.  He began his career right here in Omaha at V. Mertz Restaurant, his family's fine-dining institution.
