france: locronan

You guys! Fifty is not so bad after all! For my big birthday in July, we planned a trip to France. We timed it to coincide with Maison & Objet in Paris, and added in a few day trips. During our two week stay, we visited some friends in Brittany, who shared their favorite spots with us. This was especially invaluable as we would have never found some of these charming locations on our own, and we are eternally grateful for their hospitality! (Wait until you see their house!)

I have lots of photos to share ~ I'm guessing about a dozen posts worth. I'll share in no particular order, other than my excitement level for the photos as I go through them.

With that, I give you Locronan...

The abundance of beautiful hydrangea in Brittany is quite something. I'm sure I took 500 photos of hydrangea before our friends informed us the flowers were tired and on their way out. I can't imagine them being more gorgeous! Stay with me until the end of this post for more intense hydrangea beauty...

Locronan is an exquisite and sacred village in Brittany in north-western France, and is a member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (The most beautiful villages of France) association, and rightfully so.

Creperie options abound, and our friends, who frequent this charming location, insisted that we partake...

We are so happy we did!

I assure you we took great pleasure in all the charm as we ate delicious crepes for lunch AND dessert...

Again, the hydrangea...

Look how the stone steps are so worn in the center...

Locronan was granted town status when Anne of Brittany traveled there on a pilgrimage in 1505.

Found lots of fun things in the local shops...

I posted this on instagram, and I must say, it is a favorite post... right? This little courtyard was memorable and stunning.

Even on a gloomy day, the scenery was spectacular!

The Saint Ronan Church built during the 15th century...

So excited about sharing this post. Locronan, a small town built at the foot of a hill, set the stage for our four days in Brittany.  I have lots more to share, so stay tuned!
