antiques garden and design show 2016
I hadn't planned on going to the Chicago Antique Show this year. I knew I would be in Chicago the weekend prior for Hillary's birthday, and thought two weekends in a row was a bit much. Turns out two weekends in a row totally rocks! I flew in with a friend on Friday morning and we were at the show by 10:30am with bells on our toes..
Join me on this tour of the Chicago Botanic Garden for the Antiques Garden and Design Show 2016... I remembered from years past the sign out front showcasing the flowers that can be seen in the gardens...
And the walk over the bridge with the flowers overhead...
What a beautiful walk to the antiques! It could not have been a prettier day, and everyone seemed delighted with the uncommon gorgeous weather for this time of year in Chicago.
Inside, the floral decor was outstanding. Wait until you see the blue hydrangeas later...
And of course, the antiques were wonderful... Jayne Thompson Antiques
Beautiful floral displays!
Absolutely loved the "Top Picks" blue ribbons awarded to favorite finds by the speakers. Martyn Lawrence Bullard gave this stunning collection his stamp of approval... It was great to see him again. He remembered us from Omaha and gave us a big hug! So dapper and charming!
More floral gorgeousness...
More and More = Topiary Heaven
Chicago always has the most spectacular displays...
This one was a real showstopper!
Poverty Hollow
What a charming booth!
I just loved the clean crisp look of this booth... I first saw this booth at the Nantucket show, and what a fun collection for a Nantucket home! Love the red and blue..
And now, the blue hydrangeas...
I thought this display was over the top gorgeous...
We took a break for lunch and the floral explosion continued in the cafe!
Loved seeing my good old friend, Trace Mayer and his bees :)
And what a treat to see Laurie Kay's art work featured as a top pick by Timothy Whealon! After seeing his lecture, I was not surprised. He loves using photography in his design projects. My traveling friend and I each have her photography in our homes, and admire her as an artist. Laurie is a good friend and has inspired past posts: here and here.
South Greenhouse
And back to Krehbiel Gallery before going outside. The skylight overhead offers different lighting throughout the day...
Postcard-worthy, right?
Loved this display in the Garden Gallery tent...
A walk through the garden on our way out...
What a productive day! I think I'm getting good at this! The nice weather made it so easy and enjoyable. I realize the show is indoors for the most part, but keep in mind, I've been to this show in frigid temps with snow, and also flooding! To say sunny and 65 degrees was a welcome change would be an understatement. The show was manageable and delightful. Martyn Lawrence Bullard was charismatic and magnetic as always, and Timothy Whealon was inspiring and fetching. Just a perfect day I tell you.
Hope you enjoyed the show along with me :)
