louisville love part 2

After a long day at Kentucky Oaks, we were ready to retire for the night. Jammies and TV in bed sounded heavenly. Our feet hurt and after all, we had to be prepared for the Kentucky Derby the next day.

But our hosts wouldn't have it. "This Derby Eve party is not to be missed," they said. "You must rally for Kentucky Derby weekend! You have the rest of the year to recover!" they exclaimed.

And off we went to one of the most interesting parties I've ever attended... The band was fantastic, if a little odd in appearance...

The best part? Foot massages were offered to interested guests and finished off with comfy slippers! We partook.

Also in this room were large tubs of cheeseballs with paper bags for filling, and a professional poker player inviting guests to join him in a game...

As the night went on, we were entertained with food surprises including a french fry bar, a nacho bar, and late night burritos. We partook.

Outside, there were basketball hoops. We did not partake. In the end, we agreed ~ the party was not to be missed. And guess what? We were ready for the Kentucky Derby Saturday morning... rain and all!

I bet on my favorite jockey, Rosie, and Hillary bet on her favorite horse name, Charming Kitten. We each bet $10 to Show. We didn't win anything, but we yelled and cheered like we bet a million dollars. The race is that exciting. It's emotional and so fast-paced, if you're distracted, you'll miss the whole thing.

So grateful to have the opportunity to experience Louisville in such an intimate and meaningful way ~ a special weekend and amazing experience we'll remember forever!
