inspired home: architectural inspiration part 2
Part 2
Main entry/Family room/Back entry
Shall we move inside this lovely home? The family room is pretty spectacular... let's start there.
My goodness, I'd be willing to bet you won't find a more exquisite black forest collection anywhere ~ look for more...
Love the formal painting on the stone wall... off-centered and unexpected...
On the side of the armoire above, you'll find this...
Coming in the front door, the staircase is straight ahead...
To the left is this beauty...
Can you see the window behind?
Possibly my favorite thing in the house!
The newel post is the oldest architectural piece incorporated into the house, dated 1721. The posts and newels you will see in this home are a spectacular collection...
To the right from the entry, is the family room through this charming vestibule. Notice the unusual/wonderful chandelier in the family room. Also, the stone walls are amazing.
Here's another shot of that vestibule leading to the family room..
The Dalmatian is a fun surprise...
Another example of "fun" are these adorable M&Ms painted just on the unseen lower left corner of the floor above. During the extensive time required to build this house, a jar would be filled with 4 pounds of M&Ms on Monday mornings for the work crew. Sooner or later, the empty jar would find it's way to the doorway of the studio (where the family was living during construction) to be refilled. While grabbing a handful, or missing an open mouth toss, a few candies would inadvertently be left behind in the sawdust, and smiled at during nightly walks to check the progress of the day. These painted candies are a charming reminder, an ode to the tireless work and craftsmanship required to make this house a home.
Looking back to the entry... Perhaps I need a piece like this to store more beautiful things!
This is a hallway leading to the back of the house... The window is about the prettiest thing I've ever seen.
Back entry to house...
Similar chandelier in back...
The doors are remarkable throughout the home... an amazing collection.
This is the entrance to the powder bath...
OMG the wallpaper!
Mixing function and beauty at it's best... The decorative panel on this mirror was a special found object. The frame was built around, and the inset mirror opens to reveal a deep built-in medicine cabinet! Impressive to say the least...
Next up: the kitchen and dining room.
