inspired home... wilma
As soon as I booked my ticket to Chicago, to attend the Chicago Botanic Antiques and Garden Fair, I was thinking of an important email I had to send. A few months ago, I had lunch with a friend who claimed she knew of a perfect inspired home possibility in Chicago. I remembered. The email was sent, the plans were made, and I'm happy to present this fabulous inspired home full of collections!
In my last post, I shared the picturesque entrance ...
Wilma greeted me with a smile and a hug, and a Chloe. (I'll explain.)
I knew pretty quick this was going to be good. And when I say pretty quick, I mean the second I walked in the door. Do you see what I see? Orange. Oh yes, Wilma and I were going to get along just fine. Please look at the french doors leading to the living room... beauty.
This my friends, is a Chloe. I'm not sure I've ever seen a more precious soul. She was very excited to meet me, and I believe it's safe to say, she adored me with all her heart.
I often don't include room shots, am more of a close-up kind of gal, but with the light streaming in the windows, I couldn't resist sharing the warm and sunny feel of the room...
Now we'll move in for some close-ups...
Check out this magnificent view!
Meow.
On to the dining room...
Such a cheerful color!
Through the butler's pantry to the kitchen/family room.
Love the sun pouring through the living room window looking back through the dining room...
The family room houses a blue and white collection...
Collecting is definitely a hobby!
A charming guest room...
Loved that sweet spring green fabric!
Wilma's love of pink and green continues in her master bedroom...
As does her amazing collection of collections...
Just as I was about to leave, Wilma remembered another hidden collection...
A charming powder room...
Back to the front door...
This poster is by the elevator and is also owned by Wilma's friend, my friend in Omaha.
Now, let me tell you how adorable Wilma is, and why we were destined to be friends:
1. She loves orange. (I love orange.)
2. She loves collections and beautiful things. (I do too, duh.)
3. She invited me, a complete stranger into her home, to take photos on a Sunday morning with very short notice, and greeted me with a hug. SO NICE! (I happen to adore nice people.)
4. She has a website called ChicksFlicks.com
(I have a blog and I love movies.)
ChicksFlicks.com is a site for women where symbols are used to rate movies. There's a romance rating, a chick rating, a comedy rating, a tear rating, you get the idea. Wilma is the "Chief Chick" which is about the cutest thing I've ever heard.
You can visit the website here. It's seriously adorable and smart.
Thank you to my new friend Wilma! What a treat to be able to share such a special home right in the heart of downtown Chicago!
