beef bourguignon

We were invited to a charming and intimate dinner party this year for Valentine's Day... Such a nice alternative to a set menu with astronomical prices on this commercialized holiday.

My dear friend Sarah is a hostess with sophistication and savoir faire. Her home is vibrant and full of energy and reflects her personality perfectly.

Electric turquoise walls are just perfect for this handsome living room...

I love the beautiful woodwork and detail in this old home - the arched doorways are stunning...

Most noteworthy is Sarah's prowess as a cook. She made what may have been the most delicious meal I've ever had! Beef Bourguignon, Julie Child's recipe, served with fingerling potatoes, a scrumptious salad and crunchy french bread... heavenly!

Dessert? Chocolate Souffle with a dab of vanilla ice cream. You may recall my dislike of chocolate mentioned in a previous post, however I take it all back after this. I'm sure it was the most decadent end to a meal I've ever experienced..

She sent each couple home with her famous homemade coffee cake. Upon arriving home, despite our "full" situation, we immediately tasted it to confirm it was still the most delicious coffee cake out there. It was. We confirmed again this morning.

My mouth is watering... I'm planning to make this Beef Bourguignon for Christmas Dinner 2012 and every year after... it's that good! Get the recipe HERE.

Thank you Sarah, for this lovely and memorable evening!
