inspired home... hillary

My daughter will be in NY this summer for an internship so she is subletting her apartment.  We recently spent some quality time cleaning and organizing and it was fun to reminisce about where and how she got many of the pieces that make up the whole today. I thought it would be fun to do a post on her inspired home!

So, the apartment is pretty awesome for a college student.  She is nearing the end of her college experience, and over the past couple years has acquired an apartment full of belongings. It has evolved into a comfortable space that reflects Hillary's personality. Although it is more cluttered than I prefer, it's young and appropriate.

We were lucky in that the apartment is in an old building with characteristics that are not often found in new apartment settings.  The large windows with the dark moldings, the hardwood floors, and the high ceilings all evoke a sense of old world charm and offer a wonderful backdrop for furnishings.

Hillary picked up these Tibetan prayer flags in Telluride.

We found the trunk at a Collector's Choice sale for $65... perfect for the lucky hand-me-down TV from Dad. (Dad upgraded)

The kitchen appliances were updated just before Hillary started renting... Lucky!

Box: $24 (Hillary thought it looked like Louis Vuitton!) anthropologie candlesticks $35

We found this couch at a second hand store for $70!  We thought it kind of had an anthropologie feel which, as you will see, is the feel Hillary seems to be attracted to quite a bit...

orange candle... from anthropologie

 anthropologie letters...

anthropologie owl...

anthropologie bedding on sale ($49) on a hand-me-down bed from a relative!

anthropologie shower curtain and wall art...

more anthropologie bedding...

anthropologie initials (with anthropologie jewelry)

The New York apartment is totally different and very cool.  It will certainly be a fun change to call New York her home for the summer...
